About Iceland
Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity.
For travelers on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations.
About Reykjavik
Reykjavík sometimes feels like a cosmopolitan capital and a tiny seaside village - all wrapped up in one. But Reykjavík has the best of both worlds; the qualities of a modern, forward-looking society complemented by a close connection to Iceland‚s beautiful and unspoilt nature.
Reykjavík’s legendary nightlife is bolstered by plentiful cultural and social happenings in addition to an abundance of first-class restaurants. The size of Reykjavik city centre is also limited enough to allow for easy navigation by foot. Reykjavík has been described as a young and daring city that is characterized by strong contrasts. Conveniently small, clean and safe, it is more or less free from the major problems that haunt many other capitals. Big city events are frequent, the winter lights festival finished recently with thousands of participants and more tourist at this time of the year than we are used to.
Enjoy a mysterious and adventurous winter weekend-break in Reykjavík. The winter in Iceland is great for exploring the dancing Northern Lights, the natural wonders surrounding the city in their gracious winter coats, and for soaking in the hot waters of the Blue Lagoon under the crisp sky.
Day 1: Arrival in the Capital of the North
Arrival in Keflavik and transfer from airport to hotel in Reykjavík.
If you arrive early, we recommend stopping at the Blue Lagoon on your way to Reykjavík and/or getting the Reykjavík Tourist Card, which gives you access to all the museums owned by the city of Reykjavík, all the swimming pools in Reykjavík and all buses that run within the greater Reykjavík area.
Day 2: Reykjavík Sightseeing and a Quest for the Northern Lights
After breakfast at the hotel, we will start by taking you on a Greater Area Reykjavík Sightseeing Tour. This 2.5-hour tour includes the most significant places in the capital and some surrounding towns, such as the Presidential Residence at Bessastaðir, the Restaurant Perlan and Höfði House. You can enjoy optional tours such as Northern Lights and Lobsters, Northern Lights Mystery or Iceland From Below—a tour to Iceland’s most renowned lava craters and caves.
The rest of the afternoon is then free to explore the city, thermal spas, museums or/and the restaurants and nightlife.
Day 3: Geysir, Golden Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park
We will take you on an afternoon tour, taking in some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the waterfall Gullfoss, the great Geysir area and Kerið. This six-hour tour is one of the most popular tours in Iceland.
Day 4: The Blue Lagoon and Departure
Passengers departing with the afternoon flight will have time to relax at the amazing Blue Lagoon natural spa, famous for its healing mineral-rich waters surrounded by jet-black basalt lava—a perfect way to end your weekend break. From the Blue Lagoon, you head to Keflavik Airport.
