This guided small group tour gives you the best of both worlds—the lively buzz of the capital city and a taste of South Iceland’s extreme nature with outdoor adventures, including kayaking, snorkeling, caving, hiking, horse riding and rafting. Day 1: Your Adventure Begins

On arrival to Keflavik Airport in Iceland, take the Flybus to your accommodation in central Reykjavik. After settling in, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant capital with as you wish. We recommend a walk around the colorful city center with its ample assortment of coffee houses, shops, interesting museums, art galleries and other attractions. We also suggest a hearty dinner at one of the city’s diverse restaurants to fuel up for tomorrow’s activities!

Day 2: Kayaking & Whales

Our first day of adventure starts with a morning sea kayaking excursion at majestic Hvalfjörður, the “whale fjord”, one of the deepest fjords in the North Atlantic. Enjoy a packed lunch afterwards back on dry land. In the afternoon, our aquatic adventure continues with a whale watching cruise in the Faxaflói bay from Reykjavik’s old harbor. Along with chance sightings of amazing creatures like minke or humpback whales, this is also a treat for bird watchers.

Day 3: Caving & Snorkeling

Today we’ll explore new depths with a fascinating excursion at Gjábakkahellir cave. Making our way through the ancient lava tube, we’ll discover the hidden marvels created by Iceland’s volcanic forces. Our next adventure brings us to nearby Þingvellir National Park for a snorkeling tour in the crystal clear waters of the Silfra fissure, considered one of the top ten dive sites in the world. Situated at the rift where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart by 2 cm per year, this is a unique experience to explore an underwater world between two continents!

Day 4: Hiking, Hot Springs & Horses

The day begins with a short trip to the geothermally active town of Hveragerði on the South Coast. From there we’ll embark on a hike up to the hot springs of the Reykjadalur valley, where our reward is a soothing dip in the naturally heated stream in the middle of nature. Afterwards we head to the nearby Eldhestar ranch for lunch followed by a horseback ride through the surrounding farmlands. The Icelandic horse, one of the purest breeds in the world, is renowned for its small stature and surefooted gaits, making it a good companion for first-time riders.

Day 5: Reykjavik & Blue Lagoon

This is your chance to rest up for your last day of adventure tomorrow. You can choose from six different departure times to the Blue Lagoon, the famous geothermal spa where you can soak in warm mineral waters surrounded by other-worldly lava formations. The rest of your day is free to explore Reykjavik and its surroundings at your leisure.

Day 6: Golden Circle & River Rafting

Our last full day of adventure begins with a thrilling rafting trip down the Hvítá river, a nice blend of calm waters and adrenaline pumping rapids between steep canyon walls. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at the Drumbo base camp, where you can also relax in the hot tubs or sauna. We then head to the Golden Circle route for visits to the Geysir hot springs area, the majestic Gullfoss waterfall and Þingvellir National Park. If you’re up for one more adventure this evening, why not explore the legendary Reykjavik nightlife and celebrate Friday night with the locals?

Day 7: Departure

It’s time to say goodbye today after your adventurous break in Iceland. Transfer to Keflavik Airport by Flybus in time for your check-in. If your flight is in the afternoon, you can enjoy the morning exploring Reykjavik, perhaps with some last-minute souvenir shopping, a tour of the city’s brand new Harpa concert hall or a visit to one of the interesting museums.

Booking and confirmation

After booking a holiday package with, you will be contacted by email within two working days by your designated travel consultant, who will assist with your booking and serve as your point of contact for any travel needs during your stay. The email will include the full name and direct contact information for your travel consultant along with information about your booking, payment and what to expect during your holiday.

Delivery of travel documents

Travel documents will be delivered as follows:
  • At time of deposit payment: You will receive the pro-forma invoice by email
  • Within 30 days of deposit payment: You will receive the full itinerary by email
  • At time of full payment: You will receive the confirmation invoice and all vouchers by email

  • Minimum: 2 persons (only on specified days), Maximum: 12 persons
  • This tour is suitable for beginners—no prior experience is needed for any of the activities.
  • Planned activities may be substituted, though it may result in an additional fee.
  • Please bring warm, waterproof outerwear including hats and gloves for all outdoor activities since weather conditions can change quickly and often. You should also bring a swimsuit and lightweight thermal undergarments and woolen socks (ideal under suits for rafting and snorkeling). A fast drying towel is also handy. Please also note that eyeglasses cannot be worn under the goggles for the snorkeling trip; contact lenses are recommended.
  • Any special equipment or safety gear required for activities will be provided locally.
