Power of Nature
This 5-day semi-guided tour lets you experience Iceland's powerful forces of nature with visits to volcanoes, waterfalls and geothermal marvels like the great Geysir, the town of Hveragerði and the famous Blue Lagoon. Other highlights include Europe's largest glacier, the floating icebergs at Jökulsárlón and--if conditions are right--the northern lights! You will also have some time to explore the capital city, Reykjavik, at your leisure.
Accommodation is provided in comfortable guesthouses or hotels and daily driving distances are moderate.

Day 1: Welcome to IcelandArrive to Keflavík Airport in Iceland and take the Flybus shuttle to your comfortable accommodation in the heart of Reykjavik. After storing your luggage, get to know this colorful city with a stroll around downtown, where you'll find an assortment of museums, shops and cafes. You’ll also find a great selection of restaurants to tempt your taste buds.Spend the night in central Reykjavik. |

Day 2: Geysers & Golden FallsOur guided tour begins by driving to Þingvellir National Park, where we can walk in the rift valley between the North American and Eurasion continent. Our next stop is the high-temperature geothermal area at Haukadalur, home to the great Geysir and its more active neighbor, the Strokkur geyser.As proof that hot springs are useful for more than just sightseeing and geothermal heating, we will also get to sample some unique culinary delights: freshly baked rye bread and hard-boiled eggs—both cooked in a nearby hot spring—served with butter, herring and a special Icelandic schnapps. Last but not least, we make a stop at Gullfoss, Iceland’s most iconic waterfall. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the Flúðir area. The next three nights in the countryside may provide great opportunities for seeing the northern lights! |

Day 3: The Volcanic South CoastRemember that volcano with the difficult name? Well, the first part of our day is dedicated to exploring the surroundings of that famous volcano, Eyjafjallajokull, which captured the world spotlight in 2010. At the new visitor center at the nearby Thorvaldseyri Farm, we can learn more about the eruption’s impact on Iceland and the world with the multi-media exhibits.Continuing along the south coast, we make a few stops at two of Iceland's most picture-perfect waterfalls, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss,before ending at Reynisfjara beach and its unique rock formations.Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the Kirkjubæjarklaustur area. |

Day 4: From Fire to IceWe spend the first part of the day at Skaftafell National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty next to Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap. Then, our journey takes us to the famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where you can enjoy an incredible view of the floating icebergs (and maybe some curious seals).Tonight, we return to our accommodation in the Kirkjubæjarklaustur area for another dinner and overnight stay. |

Day 5: A Very Geothermal DayHeading back towards Reykjavik, we take some time to explore Hveragerði, a town often called the "flower village" for its many greenhouses heated by the area's abundant hot springs. We also get a sneak-peek at how geothermal energy is generated at the Hellisheiði power plant, situated nearby on a volcanic ridge.Our next stop is the Reykjanes Peninsula and the Blue Lagoon, a natural spa heated completely by geothermal energy. Here, you can relax and bathe in the soothing blue seawater, renowned for its healing effects on the skin. On return to Reykjavik, you will be transferred to your centrally-located accommodation. Spend the rest of your evening at your leisure. |

Day 6: DepartureToday, it's time to head home with all your great photographs, souvenirs and new memories. Take the Flybus from your hotel to Keflavík Airport in time for your flight check-in. As we say in Iceland, "Bless og takk fyrir komuna!" (Goodbye and thanks for coming!) |

If we are unable to obtain confirmation from the supplier we reserve the right to substitute a named property in the same locality for one of a similar standard or higher, and we will ensure that our clients are notified in advance of the departure date. If you do not accept the alternative offered, you must advise us in writing within seven days from the time you have received your full itinerary with details of all confirmed services and accommodations.
