About Iceland
Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity.
For travelers on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations.
About Reykjavik
Reykjavík sometimes feels like a cosmopolitan capital and a tiny seaside village - all wrapped up in one. But Reykjavík has the best of both worlds; the qualities of a modern, forward-looking society complemented by a close connection to Iceland‚s beautiful and unspoilt nature.
Reykjavík’s legendary nightlife is bolstered by plentiful cultural and social happenings in addition to an abundance of first-class restaurants. The size of Reykjavik city centre is also limited enough to allow for easy navigation by foot. Reykjavík has been described as a young and daring city that is characterized by strong contrasts. Conveniently small, clean and safe, it is more or less free from the major problems that haunt many other capitals. Big city events are frequent, the winter lights festival finished recently with thousands of participants and more tourist at this time of the year than we are used to.
This tour takes you to many of Iceland’s best-known natural phenomena. The tour is designed for those who want to experience the best Iceland has to offer in a short period of time in ultimate comfort.
Day 1: Reykjavík Arrival
On arrival you will be met by your private chauffeur who will transfer you from Keflavík airport to Reykjavík. In Reykjavík, you will be accommodated in a suite at one of Reykjavík’s deluxe hotels. After settling into the hotel, you will be introduced to the city by our professional guide, who will take you on an excursion to unusual and original places where you can see, feel and taste what makes Reykjavík tick.
Day 2: Vatnajökull: Europe’s Largest Glacier
The day starts by taking a flight to the charming town of Höfn. At Höfn, our glacier experts await you, ready to escort you on a modified 4x4 to Vatnajökull glacier, Europe’s largest icecap. At the great Vatnajökull, you will experience a true glacier adventure and blaze around on a snowmobile. We then visit the picturesque Jökulsárlón with its shimmering icebergs and take a boat trip through the icy maze if conditions permit, before heading back to Reykjavík.
Day 3: The Golden Circle and Reykjavík
Today you will go on a full-day private 4x4 excursion, taking in some of the best-known natural phenomena in southwest Iceland including Þingvellir National Park, the waterfall Gullfoss, the great Geysir area and the Kerið implosion crater. When we return to Reykjavík, you will have time to relax and unwind as we head to Reykjavík’s top spa for a full massage. Laugar Spa offers outdoor and indoor swimming pools, Jacuzzis, steam rooms, saunas and numerous wellness therapies.
Day 4: The Landmannalaugar Highland Area
Go on a private excursion to the colourful region of Landmannalaugar and Iceland’s most active volcano, Mt. Hekla. This journey takes you through deserts and mountain lakes to the colourful rhyolite peaks that surround the hot springs of Landmannalaugar, where you can take a dip in an entirely natural hot tub.
Day 5: Akureyri and Lake Mývatn
Fly from Reykjavík to Akureyri, where a day of spectacular sights awaits you. Your personal guide will take you to Lake Mývatn, where you will see wonders such as the Dimmuborgir lava maze and the Skútustaðagígar pseudocraters. The night will be spent at a luxury hotel in the Lake Mývatn area.
Day 6: The Pearls of the North
Today we will head to Húsavík, a charming coastal village often referred to as the ‘whale-watching capital of Europe’. On our way there, we will stop at some of the best-known natural phenomena in northeast Iceland including the Ásbyrgi canyon and Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe. Once in Húsavík, we will sail out to the bay to behold the magnificent whales before heading back to Akureyri for a flight back to Reykjavík.
Day 7: The Blue Lagoon and Departure
Take a guided tour of the Reykjanes area, visit the Blue Lagoon and arrive in Keflavík airport in time for an afternoon flight. We will drive you from Reykjavík to visit the geologically active Lake Kleifarvatn area and Krýsuvík cove before visiting the Blue Lagoon spa. At the Blue Lagoon, you will have time to relax and enjoy a massage before heading to Keflavík airport for your afternoon flight back home.
