Arrive to Keflavík Airport in Iceland. For transportation to your accommodation in central Reykjavik, we recommend the Flybus shuttle service. You’ll also find a great selection of diverse restaurants to tempt your taste buds.

Spend the night in central Reykjavík.

Day 2: The Volcanic South Coast

To kick off our guided tour, we head past Hveragerði, a geothermally active town surrounded by steaming vents, as we make our way towards the now infamous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Nearby at the Thorvaldseyri Farm, we have time to explore the family-run volcano visitor center and the multi-media exhibition about the local and worldwide impact of the 2010 eruption.

Continuing east, we  make a stop to admire the Skógafoss waterfall and the interesting artifacts of Iceland's past at the nearby Skógar Folk Museum.

Spend the night in the Vík area.

Day 3: Wonders of Ice

Today, we travel through the historic village of  Kirkjubæjarklaustur to Skaftafell National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty dominated by views of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier.

The highlight of the day is a trip to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, one of Iceland’s most photogenic attractions, where large pieces of ice calved from the glacier float peacefully in the lagoon as they gradually drift out to sea. Here, you will enjoy a 40-minute boat tour among the maze of icebergs, perhaps with sightings of curious seals.

Spend another night in the Vík area.

Day 4: Pompeii of the North

Travelling westward along the coast, we arrive to the Landeyjarhöfn harbor for a ferry ride to the Westman Islands. At Heimaey, the largest of these volcanic islands and main town, we have a chance to view the cliff-dwelling puffins, probably Iceland's most popular bird species. We will also walk up to the crater from the 1973 eruption of Eldfell that buried half of the town in lava. After lunch,  you have free to explore the town before we return by ferry to the mainland.

Spend the night in the Laugarvatn or Hveragerði area (depending on season).

Note: *The puffin-season is from April until around mid August
*If bad weather conditions prevent us from reaching the Westman Islands, the tour will instead continue on to Laugarvatn through the flood plains from the 1918 Katla volcano eruption.

Day 5: Golden Circle & Reykjavik

Heading back to the capital, our first stop is the Friðheimar tomato greenhouse for some tasting. Then we visit the attractions along the Golden Circle route, starting with the hot springs and geysers, including the great Geysir, at the Haukadalur geothermal area. We then make a stop at Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, before heading to the wondrous Þingvellir National Park, location of Iceland’s ancient assembly grounds and a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Back in Reykjavik you can enjoy the rest of the evening as you wish, perhaps with dinner at one of the city’s most trendy restaurants or a taste of the local brews at some of the lively pubs.

Spend the night in central Reykjavik.

Day 6: Departure

Today it’s time to say goodbye to Iceland after your adventures around the island. We recommend transferring to Keflavík Airport by Flybus in time for your check-in. If your flight is in the afternoon, a great way to spend the morning is with a soothing soak in the warm mineral waters of the Blue Lagoon.
