Experience the Icelandic countryside at its best at Hellishólar, a cluster of 24 holiday cottages located in the Fljótshlið valley, an ancient Viking settlement and backdrop for the famous Njál’s Saga. Just an hour’s drive from Reykjavik, these cozy cottages make an excellent starting point for exploring South Iceland’s most beloved natural wonders, including Gullfoss and Geysir, Skógar, the Mýrdalsjökull Glacier, Vík in Mýrdal, the Westman Islands, Þjórsárdalur and many other sights.
The Hellishólar cottages are perfect for families, offering plenty of activities for everyone: a horse rental center, an 18-hole golf course surrounded by incredible landscapes, a lake filled with trout, playgrounds for the kids and outdoor hot tubs, just to name a few. A thermal swimming pool and many excellent hiking trails are also accessible within a short drive. Dining is available at the spacious on-site restaurant and shopping is available in the nearby town of Hvolsvöllur.

Our rental car selectionWe‘ve partnered with one of Iceland’s most reliable and efficient car rental agencies to offer top-notch service and a great selection of high-quality, dependable vehicles. All rentals include a standard insurance policy with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), unlimited mileage, GPS, two drivers and Icelandic VAT @ 25.5%. Fuel or oil is not included. Optional insurance upgrades, additional drivers and child seats are available and payable locally at the car rental office. Collecting your vehicleOn arrival to Keflavík Airport, a representative of the car rental agency will be waiting for you at the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name on it. You and all travellers in your party will then be shuttled to the car rental office, just a 1 minute ride from the airport. There, you will complete all paperwork and choose among optional services or upgrades before collecting your vehicle. On the day of departure, you will return the vehicle to the same car rental office at Keflavík Airport.A valid credit card is required by the car rental agency, and a credit card imprint will be taken at the time of vehicle collection for security reasons. Your voucher covers the cost of the rental, but the imprint may be used to deduct any extra charges due to use or damage of the vehicle. Please note: if your departure flight is more than 2 hours later in the day than your arrival flight, your car rental period will exceed the number of days included in your holiday package. In such case, we would need to charge for an extra day with the rental car. Otherwise, you have the option of returning the rental car in Reykjavik and taking the Flybus shuttle to the airport on departure for no additional charge. |
