29 Dec. – Welcome to Reykjavik

Arrive to Keflavik Airport in Iceland and transfer to your accommodation in central Reykjavik via Airport bus. After settling in, you can explore the vibrant capital as you wish. With the city center at your fingertips, you’ll find a great selection of cafes, restaurants, shops, museums and other attractions.

This evening, if weather conditions allow, you'll embark on a guided quest into the countryside for the magnificent northern lights—also known as aurora borealis.  Your guide will inform you with facts about the northern lights and stories about the Icelandic folklore including ghosts, elves and trolls that might linger in the mysterious dark landscape. During the tour the tour you will be offered hot chocolate and kleina (Icelandic Pastry).

30 Dec. – The Wonders of the Golden Circle

Visit some of Iceland’s most famous attractions with a guided bus tour of the classic “Golden Circle” route in South Iceland. One of the highlights on this journey is Þingvellir National Park, a place of great historical and geological significance that is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other attractions include the beautiful two-tiered Gullfoss waterfall and the spouting hot springs Geysir and Strokkur. On return to Reykjavik, you will see the beautiful waterfall Faxi.

31 Dec. –  The Countdown Is On!

Enjoy the first half of your day with a break at one of Reykjavik’s thermal swimming pools to recharge your batteries in the fresh, cool air. You may also fit in a bit of shopping before the shops close in the early afternoon. Another alternative is to take part in an optional activity or tour, such as a city sightseeing tour, horse riding tour or trip to the Blue Lagoon.

To celebrate this special evening, we suggest taking part in optional tour of Reykjavik’s community bonfires, a unique way to experience the local traditions, or an optional New Year’s Eve dinner show. Otherwise, you can enjoy dinner and drinks at one of the fine restaurants in the city center and gather near Hallgrímskirkja Church around midnight to witness the dazzling fireworks. Afterwards, if you’re up for it, why not join the Icelanders at their favorite party spots downtown? 

Note: if you wish to reserve a table for dinner on New Year’s Eve, we recommend booking well in advance as a limited number of restaurants are open that evening.

All good things must come to an end, and today it’s time to head home after your exciting New Year’s break. Take the Airport bus to Keflavik Airport in time for your check-in.
