23 Dec. – A Golden Day

Learn about Iceland´s unique geology and history with an enlightening guided bus tour along the famous “Golden Circle” route. Here, you will visit some of Iceland’s top attractions, including Þingvellir National Park, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the great Geysir geothermal area with its spouting geyser and steaming hot springs, and Gullfoss, considered one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls. Returning to Reykjavik, the tour makes a stop at the historical site of Skálholt, the ancient seat of Iceland’s bishops and a major political and cultural centre throughout the Middle Ages.

The rest of your evening is free to join the locals in some last minute shopping or visit some of the cozy restaurants or bars in downtown Reykjavík. Don't forget to try some mulled wine!

24 Dec. – City Walk & Christmas Eve Festivities

Start the day with a city walking tour led by a local guide dressed in Iceland´s national costume. This interesting and leisurely excursion through downtown gives you insights into Icelandic Christmas traditions as well as the city’s history, architecture and culture. You will also get to enjoy little tastes of Iceland’s culinary secrets at various stops and receive a lovely parting gift – a special souvenir of Iceland!

At 18:00, the church bells ring as Icelanders kick off the Christmas celebrations with their families. We recommend trying a traditional Christmas dinner buffet at one of the city’s fine restaurants, with typical dishes including smoked lamb, glazed potatoes, roast vegetables and sweet desserts.

Note: if you wish to reserve a table for dinner on Christmas Eve, we recommend booking well in advance as a limited number of restaurants are open that evening. Contact us for suggestions or booking assistance.
