23 Dec. – Blue Lagoon & Reykjavik Tour

Start the day by relaxing at the magnificent Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa famous for its healing mineral waters. Unwind in the steam baths and sauna or soak in the warm lagoon with a white silica mud mask, surrounded by surreal lava formations.

Later, learn more about Icelandic Christmas traditions with a 3-hour guided tour of downtown Reykjavik on this magical evening we call Þorláksmessa. By bus and foot, this tour gives you insights into the local history and culture, including a sample of traditional Icelandic delicacies at a local cafe!

The rest of your evening is free to join the locals in some last minute shopping or visit some of the cozy restaurants or bars in downtown Reykjavík. Don't forget to try some mulled wine!

Note: Since this is a very busy night in downtown Reykjavik, waiting times at restaurants may be longer than usual. Reservations are recommended. Your travel consultant can make some restaurant suggestions based on your budget and tastes.

24 Dec. – Christmas Eve on the Golden Circle

Start your Christmas Eve with a journey along the famed Golden Circle route. This guided bus tour takes you to some of Iceland’s top attractions, starting with Þingvellir National Park, renowned for its remarkable geology and historical significance. Next, you’ll see hot springs, including the great Geysir, and Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls. On the way back to Reykjavik, the tour makes a stop at the dormant caldera of Kerið and historic Skálholt.

At 18:00, the church bells ring as Icelanders kick off the Christmas celebrations with their families. We recommend trying a traditional Christmas dinner buffet at one of the city’s fine restaurants, with typical dishes including smoked lamb, glazed potatoes, roast vegetables and sweet desserts.

Note: if you wish to reserve a table for dinner on Christmas Eve, we recommend booking well in advance as a limited number of restaurants are open that evening. Contact us for suggestions or booking assistance.
