Fjalakötturinn

Fjalakötturinn - A historical experience.

Fjalakötturinn is made up of three interlinked buildings: while the middle one originates from 1764, the other two have been constructed to resemble their predecessors.

The hotel provides hungry passers-by with two options: the Uppsalir café or Fjalakötturinn restaurant. In Uppsalir’s comfortable atmosphere in the oldest part of the building, visitors can enjoy quality Lavazza coffee along with light courses or delicious cakes and waffles. Every month, Uppsalir’s walls are a venue for different art exhibitions. For beautiful summer days, Uppsalir also has a patio ideal for sipping coffee in the sun.

Fjalakötturinn restaurant welcomes guests for a delicious meal. For lunch, visitors can choose between the light lunch menu and the hors-d’oeuvre buffet. In the evening, the restaurant changes to its a la carte menu. In these historical buildings in the heart of Reykjavík, Fjalakötturinn emphasises Icelandic ingredients and cooking and takes pride in presenting home cooked meals. The menu includes fish, meat and vegetable courses, and also has a national dish of the week. Among the delicacies to be found on the menu is the praised smoked lamb carpaccio. The impressive and affordable wine list assists visitors in selecting the right wine, as it recommends wines to accompany the courses on the menu. Fjalakötturinn also monthly selects a wine of the month. For groups up to 14 people, the lovely Forsetastofa in the Uppsalir building is an ideal choice for private parties or meetings.
