Café Paris – A Model RestaurantCafé Paris is a nice and warm place to visit for refreshments, light meals, home made cakes and bread.The restaurant has the best spot in Reykjavík, is dead center downtown in Austurstræti across from Landsbankinn on the one side and Austurvöllur where Alþingi (Icelandic Parliament) is situated on the other. It opens early in the morning and closes late at night. During the day the guests come for the wide range of coffee drinks, beer or something stronger. The guests come from all walks of life. Students and artists are common guests. The light meals attract people who work close to Café Paris and tourists. After seven o´clock p.m. a slight transition occurs and the restaurant changes its complexion and becomes more of a cozy bar where you can buy beer, red and white wines and stronger drinks. For a coffee shop the menu is unusually diverse, the light meals are very popular, e.g. the various salads, French pancakes, quiche, quesadillas, grilled tuna sandwiches etc. And of course the coffee is superb. Café Paris is a perfect place to go to, the service is good and you can watch the buzzing downtown crowd go by. In the summer time when the sun shines Café Paris becomes an outdoor restaurant also. Café Paris was established in 1992 and has become a fixture in the downtown atmosphere.
