Cortes Borrows Jewelry From Iceland’s First Lady

Icelandic opera singer Gardar Thor Cortes wore jewelry worth over ISK 270 million (USD 4.2 million, EUR 3.1 million) that he had borrowed from Dorrit Moussaieff, Iceland’s first lady, while attending the Classical Brit Awards yesterday.

According to Fréttabladid, Cortes looked like James Bond when he walked down the red carpet towards Royal Albert Hall in London where the award ceremony took place.

He was wearing a black suit, a wrist watch and a star-shaped pin, and was guarded by three blonde women dressed in white and pink.

“I think they came from the insurance company that insures the jewelry, which is just as well considering its value,” Cortes’s agent Einar Bárdarson told Fréttabladid.

Bárdarson said he and Cortes had sent Moussaieff the singer’s new album to her residence in Aspen, Colorado, where she is recovering from a skiing accident.

“She really liked Gardar,” Bárdason said.
