About Iceland
Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity.
For travelers on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations.
About Reykjavik
Reykjavík sometimes feels like a cosmopolitan capital and a tiny seaside village - all wrapped up in one. But Reykjavík has the best of both worlds; the qualities of a modern, forward-looking society complemented by a close connection to Iceland‚s beautiful and unspoilt nature.
Reykjavík’s legendary nightlife is bolstered by plentiful cultural and social happenings in addition to an abundance of first-class restaurants. The size of Reykjavik city centre is also limited enough to allow for easy navigation by foot. Reykjavík has been described as a young and daring city that is characterized by strong contrasts. Conveniently small, clean and safe, it is more or less free from the major problems that haunt many other capitals. Big city events are frequent, the winter lights festival finished recently with thousands of participants and more tourist at this time of the year than we are used to.

Reykjavík Cultural Night in August, to name a few city events. Reykjavík Arts Festival in May is now an annual event, this year more ambitious then ever before. The nightlife has become legendary and the art scene is vibrant throughout the year, especially in the winter time though, with an incredible number of art exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances etc. There is a lot of cultural energy in Reykjavik.

Actually, the former slogan of the city used to be Next door to nature ... true enough ... the forces of nature are all around us, abundance of renewable indigenous energy resources all within and quite close to the city itself, the lava, volcanoes - active and dormant, waterfalls, hot springs and geysers, green pastures and so on. All this natural energy - and we use it quite sensibly too ... the hot water, heated by the thermal energy below us is used for heating the houses in Reykjavík - and even to heat the Atlantic Ocean. The people of Reykjavik are optimistic - or crazy enough to have created geothermal sandy beach just 15 minutes walk from the city centre - which is very popular by sunbathers in the summer - even though it gets a bit chilly sometimes. The thermal water is also used for numerous luxurious spa and swimming pool facilities - which again makes Reykjavík an excellent Health city, ideal to recharge one's batteries
We, in the city of Reykjavík, have a lot to look forward to. The optimism is illustrated by an ambitious project now being developed; a state-of-the-art concert and conference hall and an international 5 star hotel by the Reykjavík seaside due to open 2009; New hotels are being built and established hotels are being renovated, new museums are opening, and there is constantly more range of activities. and leisure on offer in and around the city.
And so because of these many different forces, both cultural and natural we like to focus on the energy in the capital city of Iceland with a new slogan, Reykjavík Pure Energy.
