About Iceland
Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity.

For travelers on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations.

About Reykjavik
Reykjavík sometimes feels like a cosmopolitan capital and a tiny seaside village - all wrapped up in one. But Reykjavík has the best of both worlds; the qualities of a modern, forward-looking society complemented by a close connection to Iceland‚s beautiful and unspoilt nature.

Reykjavík’s legendary nightlife is bolstered by plentiful cultural and social happenings in addition to an abundance of first-class restaurants. The size of Reykjavik city centre is also limited enough to allow for easy navigation by foot. Reykjavík has been described as a young and daring city that is characterized by strong contrasts. Conveniently small, clean and safe, it is more or less free from the major problems that haunt many other capitals. Big city events are frequent, the winter lights festival finished recently with thousands of participants and more tourist at this time of the year than we are used to.

SALT

Salt

The SALT Lounge Bar & Restaurant at the Radisson SAS 1919 Hotel in downtown Reykjavik is in one of the most famous buildings in Iceland where Eimskip, the Icelandic Steamship Company, had its headquarters until recently.

SALT Lounge Bar & Restaurant is a combination of an upscale but casual and chic restaurant and bar. The service is best characterized as being bistro-style with a vibrant urban vibe.

The cuisine is international but also has prime Icelandic ingredients and exotic condiments.

The restaurant is a modern casual bistro with an open kitchen, sand grey painted walls, black slate and dark oak flooring. Specially designed driftwood table tops are combined with modern Milanese chairs in tropical wood finish and grey salt wool upholstery. Banquette seating is in charcoal wool with paprika and saffroncoloured loose cushions.

The floor to ceiling original windows from 1919 are draped in a shimmering sheer voiles with burnished gold tones catching the light in a thousand different reflections. The only artwork on the wall is made of very large silver mirrors reflecting the ambient light.

The Lounge bar evokes a special feeling with classic sofas in black leather, and black ash chairs reminiscent of volcanic basalt and the bespoke banquettes in mixed charcoal wool inspired by the colour of Icelandic lambs add to the sentiment. The interior design has a quirky exotic touch which is combined with an otherwise cool feel of Nordic design.

The music played in SALT has been selected to reflect a mix of down-tempo ambient house and electronica with ethnic sounds and world influences.

The menu is carefully edited with emphasis on fresh food, vibrant colours and clear flavours using local protein sources (fish, poultry and lamb) and imported vegetables and spices. Dishes are mostly briefly cooked (grill, wok, pan) to preserve the natural juices.

The wine is carefully selected from around the world, chosen for fruit-forward flavours, easy drinking and approachable prices. Bar drinks include a selection of rum, pisco, cachaça and vodka Signature drinks include the SALT margarita, SALT martini and SEAbreeze served in special glassware.
