About Iceland
Iceland is a refreshingly unconventional travel destination. The Icelandic nature is unspoilt, exotic and mystical with its spouting geysers, active volcanoes, tumbling waterfalls, towering mountains, vast lava plains and magical lakes. Iceland’s fjords, glaciers and highland plains present visitors with some of the most beautiful and enchanting places they will ever see, as well as a rare feeling of utter tranquillity.

For travelers on a quest for action, Iceland’s pristine nature offers great potential for outdoor activities such as snowmobiling, horse riding, cave exploring, hiking, swimming, skiing, river rafting, kayaking and mountain safaris on modified four-wheel drives, to name but a few. Iceland supports a surprisingly diverse Nordic flora and fauna and is an ideal place for ornithology enthusiasts, while also offering some of the world’s best whale watching destinations.

About Reykjavik
Reykjavík sometimes feels like a cosmopolitan capital and a tiny seaside village - all wrapped up in one. But Reykjavík has the best of both worlds; the qualities of a modern, forward-looking society complemented by a close connection to Iceland‚s beautiful and unspoilt nature.

Reykjavík’s legendary nightlife is bolstered by plentiful cultural and social happenings in addition to an abundance of first-class restaurants. The size of Reykjavik city centre is also limited enough to allow for easy navigation by foot. Reykjavík has been described as a young and daring city that is characterized by strong contrasts. Conveniently small, clean and safe, it is more or less free from the major problems that haunt many other capitals. Big city events are frequent, the winter lights festival finished recently with thousands of participants and more tourist at this time of the year than we are used to.

VISIT THE GIANTS OF HUSAVIK

Faldur

Your Whalewatching Partner in Iceland.

Welcome to experience the Gentle Giants Whale Watching. Gentle Giants is located in the famous whale watching town of Husavik by Skjalfandi bay, on the northern coast of Iceland. We have a 98% success rate of spotting whales on our tours. Our staff has vast experience at sea, in particular around the Skjálfandi bay. To mention it – our manager is born and raised in the town of Husavik and his ancestors lived around the bay for centuries and in Flatey Island where they used to catch fish around the island, get along with the whales and above all, respect the nature, travelling across the bay on theyr rowboats and then later on with engines on board. The majority of our staff is also born and raised by the bay – and we like to say, “it’s in the blood” !! We will do our best to make your tour an unforgettable experience.

Skjalfandi Bay is an exceptional place. The large mountains that shelter the bay and the rivers that provide it with bountiful nourishment create a natural haven for whales of all kinds. And the bay is alive with whales! 12 different species have been spotted in Skjalfandi Bay during recent years. Majestic humpback and minke whales, mingle with smaller porpoises and the playful dolphins who are always ready for a race across the bay. Other visitors are fin whales, the gigantic blue whale (the largest animal ever to wander the earth) and the somewhat sinister orca or killer whale.
The home of Gentle Giants is the town of Husavik in northern Iceland. In recent years Husavík has come to be known as one of the main whale watching centres of Europe. The area is also home to many other exciting places and it is well worth the journey from Reykjavik, Akureyri or other places.

We offer a variety of tours on sea as well as tours combined with excursions on land and exploration of the culinary wonders of the widely experienced head-chef Börkur at Salka restaurant, hoping to fit the needs of all travellers coming to Husavik in search for adventure and memorable experiences in the wild nature of Iceland. For bookings you can visit our website: www.gentlegiants or send us an e-mail: info@gentlegiants.is or give us a call at the ticket centre: (+354) 464 1500.

To find us is easy, our Ticket & InfoCentre is coveniently located in the centre of Husavik, next to Salka restaurant, and overlooking the bay. We have set up a little terrace where you can enjoy your lunch and relax. We also offer high speed internet connection (HOT SPOT), for those travelling with their own computer, free of charge for our customers.

We are ready for your arrival – willing to share and add our experience to your pleasant visit to Iceland.  Looking forward to seeing you !!
